The Assistant Director for Experiential Learning is a key leadership position within the Career Center at the University of Pittsburgh. Reporting to the Director of the Career Center, the Assistant Director will coordinate and provide oversight for the experiential learning efforts of the Career Center. This position will oversee all experiential learning opportunities including on-campus, regional, national, and international. The Assistant Director will supervise up to five Experiential Learning/Career Consultants and work directly with academic partners, Student Affairs partners, alumni, employers and students. Responsibilities include creating a bank of regional and national internship opportunities, managing Pitt alumni and employer partnerships, and capturing information on existing internships, research, and other experiential learning positions at Pitt.
The Assistant Director will coordinate the Internship Prep Program for undergraduate students, create online content for internship preparation, meet with students individually to assist in their experiential learning search process, and track experiential learning and Internship Prep Program data. The Assistant Director will provide direct input to the Director on such issues as staffing, compensation, merit increases, project and operational budgeting, and short- and long-term planning for the department, and will represent the Director and the department, as necessary and when called upon serve as director in the Director's absence. The Assistant Director will be an integral part of the Career Center Leadership Team and its efforts to support a workplace culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion and promotes a positive sense of belonging for all stakeholders. They will work to enhance the student experience around skill development, career competencies, and learning outcomes with a specific emphasis on ensuring services are accessible and equitable, particularly for our first generation, limited income, and minoritized student populations.
A minimum of a Master's Degree. Strong organizational interpersonal and communications skills, must enjoy heavy client contact.
